The Department of Agriculture, Food & the Marine is Ireland’s Designated Competent Authority for implementation and enforcement of the European Union Timber Regulation (EUTR). The EUTR has been in force in all EU member states since March 2013. The overarching aim of the EU Timber Regulation is to combat global trade in illegal timber/timber products. This regulation prohibits trading on the EU market of illegally harvested timber, regardless of its origin and requires that due diligence measures be carried out prior to placement on the EU market. |
